Letters from the Pets
Prior to the sensational
duo that is Mia and Bailey, there was Toby and Turtle. Toby was the first
corgi; he passed away a few years ago following a plucky battle with cancer.
Turtle, as you may have already guessed, was a cat. Between 2011 and 2014, when
our child was young, Toby and Turtle sometimes wrote short letters to our
child, about their day or other Things of Import that had happened while she
was at school or other activities. These letters have recently been unearthed from
the great recesses of our child’s room, and so we have decided to share them
with you. We hope that you enjoy them!

Hello, it’s Turtle. Yesterday,
Mommy took a nap because she was sick. I was taking a nap with her and licking
her face. She did not like that and kicked me out. I do not know why she did
that. If I were sick, I would like to have someone licking my face. It would
make me feel better and help me to fall asleep.
Hi, it’s Toby. Last night
Mommy dropped a cough drop on the floor and I tried to eat it. It tasted very
strange. I did not like the paper on the outside, because it kept sticking to
my tongue. The inside was better because it was crunchy, but I still did not
like the taste. I thought it would taste nice, like candy. But it did not. Why
do people eat those things?
